Tribal Organic farmers of West Garo Hills benefit from Skill Development Training Programme & Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) held at KVK, West Garo Hills

        For the first time a three day training programme under RPL for Organic Growers was organized by KVK, West Garo Hills at Sangsanggre from 26th -28th March 2024 under the active leadership of Course Coordinator, Dr. Joyoshree Mahanta which concluded on 28th March 2024 at KVK, Tura. Forty tribal farmers from five different villages of West Garo Hills were selected, who actively participated in the three days training programme. Dr. Jyoti Vastrad, Dean college of Community Science graced the occasion as Chief Guest during the inaugural session. Dr.B. Mathew and Dr Kalkame Ch. Momin both Associate Professor from NEHU delivered informative lecture on Organic farming and certification. Special lecture by Mr. Sachin Palkar , who worked as Organic Inspector in certification body and has SAP as consultancy firm under Organic farming delivered lecture in virtual mode to the participants. Lectures on relevant topics of organic farming along with practical demonstration was successfully conducted by scientific staff from KVK, Tura. On the last day of the training farmers were taken for exposure visit to Biofertilizer laboratory at MTTC, College of Community Science, CAU Tura campus to enhance their knowledge on biofertilizer production and its use in different crops. At the end of the training ASCI and NSDC conducted the assessment of farmers to evaluate the quality and impact of the training received by them. Three days RPL training programme for Organic Growers ended successfully at KVK ,Tura.
